Nursing Students Collect Supplies for Nicaragua Trip

The Nursing Class of 2014 is helping to gather supplies for the study abroad health care on-site projects in Nicaragua in January 2014. The supplies will be used in the local hospital for maternity, newborn, and surgical clients as well as clinics for lobster divers, children, and others. Donations can be left in either faculty suite, Room 220 or 241.

All items should be gently used, nearly new, or new. Please do not donate stained or damaged goods. Thank you for helping TC3 students collect meaningful and useful donations for people in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua. 2014 will be the 20th anniversary of TC3 faculty and students traveling to this community.

Flat sheets-any size
Nursing & medical scrubs
Operating room hats and masks, shoe covers
Stethoscopes including pediatric size
Glucometers and supplies
Ostomy supplies
Foley catheters for self catheterization
Dressing change supplies-4 x 4 gauze, gauze wraps, ace bandages
Cloth to make swaddles for ‘kangaroo’ carriers for preemies and others
Newborn front cloth carriers, Slings

Items for mother’s gift bags:
1) Baby outfits- sizes NB to 9-12mos, mostly cotton, light long sleeve OK
2) Baby receiving blankets
3) Cloth diapers/Paper diapers
4) Sanitary napkins
5) Mother clothing-Size: Small to Large-summer dresses, leggings, button down blouses, designer Ts, brand new cotton briefs
6) Wash clothes, hand towels
