![]() For Academic UseThe Baker Center computers are networked and are fully equipped with Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 products. These computers also run tutorial software to help you brush up with various subjects. All of our computers are also equipped with Premier AT, a suite of adaptive technology which includes a talking word processor. TC3 students are also able to download Premier AT onto their own computers for free! See us for details. Students who bring in their own headphones (Walkman type work fine) can listen to what they have written. This is one of the best ways to edit work and improve writing skills! If you are in need of other specialized software, see our Adaptive Technology page. The intended use of Baker Center computers is academic, meaning that work on these machines should be related to an on-going TC3 course. Consequently, only currently enrolled TC3 students may use these machines. Bring your TC3 ID so that you may scan in. Our center is staffed with qualified tutors who can help you with anything from very basic beginning level computer skills, to computer programming in Visual Basic, C++, etc. (Come in to pick up a tutoring schedule for specific topics or view tutoring schedules for each subject. Our computers also can run specialized software for ESOL students. The Focus on Grammar series can be lent out to ESOL students for use in the Baker Center. These CD based units provide extensive English grammar practice through a great variety of reading, writing and listening activities. This ESOL software is suitable for self-directed learning and also as an extension to regular class work - students can use it outside class to practice areas where they may have problems, or to improve their skills.
