![]() Accommodation TestingThe Baker Center is available to assist faculty in the provision of accommodation testing from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Later hours can be arranged as well. Please note that the Baker Center for Learning is NOT available to administer tests or make-up tests to the general student population. The following procedures apply to all students who have previously provided a Memorandum of Academic Accommodations to the instructor. When a test is impending in your class and the student is both entitled to and wishes to use accommodations for the test, he or she is responsible for making an appointment at the Baker Center. It is very important to note that the student is responsible for initiating this procedure! After the appointment is made, a memo will be sent to you identifying the time for the exam in the BCL. You are responsible for delivering the exam in a sealed envelope to the BCL. Please take this responsibility seriously. When the student arrives for the test and it is not here, our staff must drop whatever they are doing to find you and the exam. This is very difficult for us and for your student who already is feeling anxious about the test. In addition, if the test must be converted to an alternate format, i.e. taped, enlarged, converted to Braille, etc., we ask that you provide the test to us at least two business days (48 hours) prior to the start time. If we do not receive the test with enough time to convert it, the test administration time may be altered; the student's interests will be considered first in this situation. Any special instructions (use of textbook, notes, crib sheets, dictionaries, calculators, etc.) must be given directly to the BCL. Students will not be allowed to use any materials during the exam unless specific instructions are given otherwise. We also ask you to specify the amount of time students in the classroom will be allowed for completion of the test. If you would like to submit a test via E-mail, please use our test submission form and E-mail both the test and the completed submission form to the Baker Center. The instructor must pick up completed exams in the BCL. If you wish to make any other arrangements for return of the exam (mail, student return, etc.), written instructions must be provided to the BCL. There is limited space available for testing in the BCL and the space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Encourage students to make their appointments as soon as possible. The BCL staff is very conscientious about the maintenance of security in the testing process. If a BCL staff member observes anything during the course of testing which could be interpreted as a violation of the college's Academic Integrity Policy, you will be informed. If we observe a clear violation, we will remove the test paper from the student. It will be your responsibility to decide on the repercussions for the student. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact one of the Baker Center coordinators. Note that we do not allow student workers to handle any part of the accommodation testing process. If you come in to the BCL to drop off or pick up a test, you must connect with one of the professional staff. In addition, we do not allow students to take cell phones with them into the testing environments. If the student's accommodation plan includes use of a computer during testing, he/she is not allowed to bring any memory storage device into the testing situation other than one provided by the Baker Center. Violation of either of the above would be considered to be a violation of academic integrity and would be dealt with as such. |
