For Eduardo Garza, coming to TC3 offered a chance to be on his own, and away from home – a long way away from home.
A native of Guatemala, Garza followed his older brother, a Cornell University student, to Ithaca. The Engineering Science major with sights set on Cornell and the Rochester Institute of Technology, says the experience has helped him grow as a person, and as a student.
“My perspective of life has changed here at TC3,” Eduardo says. “I guess I’ve matured more since I’ve been living on my own, taking care of (myself).”
Eduardo, who stays in the area year-round, says summer is his favorite time of the year at TC3.
“I’ve met a lot of people here,” he says. “I’ve been working at the Baker Center (for Learning) from the beginning of fall semester last year and during the summer. And actually, summers are quite a great experience here at TC3.”
Eduardo says he plans to transfer to a four-year school and then pursue a master’s degree, or even a Ph.D.
“My plan is either to get a Master’s degree, maybe in business,” he says. “… Or, maybe, I’ve been thinking about going to a Ph.D. program.”
