The State University of New York (SUNY) is the largest, centrally-managed system of public education in the nation. Its 64 campuses bring the opportunity for college education within commuting distance of almost every New York resident. The university system offers a wide range of certificate programs and associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degree courses of study. Tompkins Cortland Community College is one of 30 two-year community colleges in the SUNY system. These two-year colleges play a unique role in the expansion of educational opportunity. They provide local business and industry with highly skilled employees in a wide variety of occupational curriculums and offer many transfer options to students who wish to pursue advanced degrees.

The College is located in a culturally diverse community in the Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York. Our neighbors include Cornell University, known world-wide as a leading research institution, Ithaca College, known as one of the best private colleges in the United States, and SUNY Cortland, a sister institution in the State University system. Their presence shapes our community as progressive, diverse, and culturally rich.
Accreditation
Tompkins Cortland Community College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, and the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission has accredited the nursing program.
College Governance
TC3 is governed by a ten-member board of trustees that represents the people of the sponsoring counties in the decision-making process. All matters of policy will be considered and recommended by the college forum, a collegewide group with faculty, staff, and student representation. Recommendations are submitted to the president of the College for consideration and recommendation to the College’s board of trustees.
