Today, more than 10 million students, about 40 percent of all undergraduate students, attend community colleges throughout the United States. Community colleges provide the first two years of university education, called "undergraduate courses." At the completion of these two years, students graduate with an associates degree and often transfer to a four-year college or university to complete the bachelor’s degree.
