The collection includes video cassettes, DVDs, video/laser discs, audio cassettes, cd-roms, computer disks and slides as well as programs on older formats such as 16mm films and phonograph records. There are also collections of documentary photos and various maps. Media Services has paper copies of various subject listings and is able to create others if requested. The collection may be searched on-line by going to the library's gateway page at www.tc3.edu/library and clicking on Find Books and Media. Select Advanced Search from the menu bar on top and limit your search by document type to media or video (on the bottom half of the screen). Items are added to the collection each year based on faculty needs and requests and departmental budgets. The cost of new items is split between the Media Services budget and the departmental/program budget of the requesting faculty. Media Services staff search for sources and cost and complete the process for ordering and receiving materials. Individual departments may also have funds budgeted for the rental of audiovisual programs. However, since many of the educational rental libraries have closed down, it is often difficult to acquire programs this way. Consult with Media Services staff before talking with the department head as there may be a better approach than through rental. Media Services has informal borrowing and lending arrangements with some regional colleges and local organizations. In addition, the more formal Interlibrary Loan arrangements are available for some items. Programs to support faculty teaching and student learning may be available from a number of sources, please feel free to consult with the Media Services staff for any assistance needed. | ||
