Library News & Events

After you “Call the Midwife,” check out the TC3 Library for other great resources--

You’ve seen it on TV. But did you know the series Call the Midwife is based on written memoirs by Jennifer Worth? Worth wrote her engaging memoirs in response to a 1998 essay by Terri Coates about the absence of midwives in literature. Real-life midwife Coates now serves as technical advisor to the series Call the Midwife.

The TC3 Library has Worth’s memoirs (published in a three-book series) available in e-reader (Nook) format, along with Linda Fairley’s The Midwife’s Here and Karen Cushman’s young adult book, The Midwife’s Apprentice. The Library also currently has a collection of print books related to midwifery, including several other midwife’s memoirs, on display. Visit the Library to browse the display or ask at the Service Desk about our Nook books.
