HarpWeek
An excellent database for primary sources from the U. S. Civil War, HarpWeek gives you access to the full-text and images of Harper's Weekly magazine covering the years 1857- 1865. During the Civil War, Harper's Weekly was the most widely read and influential periodical in the United States. This database can be tricky to search, but help is always available.


JSTOR: Early Journal Content
The journal content in JSTOR published prior to 1923 in the United States and prior to 1870 elsewhere is now freely available to anyone, anywhere in the world. This "Early Journal Content" includes discourse and scholarship in the arts and humanities, economics and politics, and in mathematics and other sciences. It includes nearly 500,000 articles from more than 200 journals.


ACLS Humanities E-Book
The ACLS e-book collection includes over 3,700 full-text, e-books in all areas of the humanities (art, literature, religion, philosophy, ethics and history). All the books included are written by scholars in their respective fields and published by university presses or scholarly societies. This collection is especially strong in history.

Nursing and Health

CINAHL Plus with Full Text
Main database for literature in nursing and selected allied health fields. Coverage includes journal articles, book chapters, dissertations, critical paths, and selected conference proceedings. For nursing, there is overlap with CINAHL and MEDLINE (see below). CINAHL covers primarily English-language journals and includes smaller journals not covered by MEDLINE, plus more choices of nursing-focused subject headings. An Ebsco database. MEDLINE with Full Text
Index of journal literature in clinical medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, public health, allied health, and the basic biomedical sciences. MEDLINE can also be searched using a publicly available free web interface called PubMed (see below) which is a good choice for students once they leave TC3. An Ebsco database.


MedlinePlus
Reliable and reputable source for quality health information. Coverage includes information about diseases and conditions, drugs and supplements, health news, a medical encyclopedia and dictionary, and medical videos and illustrations. Includes information in multiple languages, easy-to-read formats, and multimedia. The site has no ads and is updated regularly. Highly recommended resource from the National Library of Medicine. MedCom Nursing Videos

Alt Health Watch
Focuses on complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness, and includes many full-text and peer-reviewed articles. An Ebsco database.


PubMed
Free web interface to the MEDLINE database, from the National Library of Medicine. Index of journal literature in clinical medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, public health, allied health, and the basic medical sciences. Results can be limited to nursing journals by including "jsubsetn" in the search or using the filters for "journal categories." Results can also be limited to free full-text. PubMed is recommended for health care professionals who are not affiliated with TC3.

HarpWeek
