TC3.biz Workplace Violence Prevention Workshop
May 15, 2013
Tompkins Cortland Community College is offering a new workshop focusing on workplace safety. “The 7th Sense: A Practical Approach to Workplace Violence Prevention and Personal Safety at the Workplace” will be offered in Ithaca and Cortland on Monday, June 10. The comprehensive three-hour seminar satisfies the training requirements of the 2006 New York State Workplace Violence Act.
The class is designed to help participants achieve a path to personal safety by addressing awareness, assessment, and response to threats and conflicts facing people in the workplace. It offers practical techniques for defusing or mitigating violent situations, and for promoting personal safety and mitigating civil liability. The interactive presentation will be led by Sandy King, a twenty-year veteran of the New York State Police. Her personal experience in public safety has been augmented by formal education in school safety, domestic violence, incident command, counterterrorism, and Secret Service Threat Assessment.
The class will be offered on June 10 in Ithaca and Cortland. The Ithaca session will run from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ramada Inn on Triphammer Road. The Cortland Extension Center on Main Street will host a repeat of the program from 1 to 4 p.m. Either session costs $175, with members of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce eligible for a discounted tuition of $150.
