 Athlete of the Week
Each week during the sports seasons, TC3 recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of a student athlete.
Phillip Lavoie, Lacrosse
April 28
Phil (Potsdam H.S./Potsdam) was a force for the first-year program all season. He closed the year out with a strong performance against Alfred State College. Playing against the playoff-bound Pioneers, Lavoie was what TC3 Coach Larry Siany called the "star of the game" for his play in the midfield. He scored a goal and two assists, but more importantly, controlled the middle of the field as TC3 nearly pulled off the upset. Earlier in the week he scored a pair of goals at Broome. For the year he finished tied for second on the team in assists with 11.

Niki Rieman, Softball
April 21
Niki (Lake Shore H.S./Derby) tossed a no-hitter Thursday against Finger Lakes to highlight a strong week in the circle. She opened the week by shutting out Corning 4-0, allowing just four hits while striking out five. Against Finger Lakes, she struck out seven in five innings in the opener, and then threw three no-hit innings in relief in game two to earn her third win of the week. She closed the week by beating nationally-ranked Mohawk Valley, striking out five in five innings while allowing just one run and two hits.

Andrew Forker, Golf
April 14
Andrew (Cortland H.S./Cortland) started his sophomore season in style, winning the Mohawk Valley Invitational by a convincing four strokes. Playing in brutally cold, windy, and rainy conditions, he fired a three-over par 74 to help the TC3 team to a strong second place finish. He followed that up with a fourth place finish at the Broome Invitational Saturday. After two rounds, he leads the region in scoring average.

Mike Zick, Baseball
April 7
Mike (Whitesboro H.S./Whitesboro) helped the Panthers to a sweep of Mohawk Valley in the regional opener. Zick threw a complete game in the nightcap, leading the Panthers to a 6-2 win and the sweep. He scattered seven hits while keeping the visitors off balance the entire game as the Panthers started the season on a positive note.

Brandon Macera, Lacrosse
March 31
Brandon (Chittenango H.S./Cazenovia) helped the Panthers to the first TC3 lacrosse victory in 30 years by scoring five goals in the 14-12 win over Cayuga Sunday. Macera leads the team in scoring with 13 points on 12 goals and one assist. He has been the team's leading scorer in three of the first four games, helping the Panthers bring lacrosse back to TC3 for the first time since 1978.

Eddie Mitchell, Men's Basketball
February 11
TC3's only game of the week saw Eddie (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse) put together a great game, especially in the first half. Mitchell was nearly perfect fro mthe floor during the first 20 minutes, hitting all three of his two-points baskets, five of his eight three-pointers, and his only foul shot while scoring 22 points. He added another three-pointer in the second half to finish with a game-high 25 points.

Adam Prue, Men's Basketball
February 4
Adam (Peru H.S./Peru) enjoyed a career night in the win at Cayuga Wednesday. The sophomore sank six three-pointer while pouring in 27 points to lead the Panthers to the win. He added 13 points in Saturday's game against Finger Lakes, giving him 40 points and eight three-pointers in two games.

Jenn Iler, Women's Basketball
January 21
Jenn (Owego Free Academy/Apalachin) led the Panthers to its first conference win in two seasons with a big game against Jefferson on Tuesday. Playing at home, Jenn scored a game-high 20 points while grabbing eight rebounds and handing out five assists. In three games this week she scored 54 points while pulling down 25 rebounds. She leads the team in conference play with an average of 14.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.

Eddie Mitchell, Men's Basketball
January 14
Eddie (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse) helped the Panthers to a 2-1 week to open Mid-State Athletic Conference play. In the win at Corning, Eddie scored 13 points to go with team-highs of six assists and four steals. After a five-assist and three-steal performance against Cayuga, Mitchell had a hot hand in Saturday's game at Finger Lakes. Mitchell led the team with 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting from three-point range. He added four assists and four steals to the effort.

Meghan Taylor, Women's Basketball
December 3
Meghan (Delaware Academy/Delhi) continued to be a force for the Panthers. She posted double-doubles in both games this week, going for 18 points and 13 rebounds in the win at Davis College and a career-high 22 points and 15 rebounds at Division II Niagara County Community College. On the season she leads the team in rebounds, grabbing an average of 11.9 per game. She is second on the team in scoring with an average of 9.9 points per contest.

Owen Mann, Men's Basketball
November 26
Owen (Odessa-Montour H.S./Alpine) helped the Panthers improve to 8-0 with a solid game at Schenectady County Community College Tuesday. He finished the overtime win with 21 points, five rebounds, three steals, and three assists as the Panthers headed into the Thanksgiving break on a positive note.

Sean Anderson, Men's Basketball
November 19
Sean (Nottingham H.S./Syracuse) had a big week for the Panthers as TC3 went 3-0 and claimed its second tournament title of the season. In Tuesday's win over Delhi, Anderson recorded 21 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. At the Cayuga Spartan Classic over the weekend, he led the Panthers to wins over Niagara and North Country, scoring 49 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, handing out nine assists, and swiping six steals. For his efforts he was named the tournament MVP.

Chris Garcia, Men's Basketball
November 12
Chris (Oneonta H.S./Oneonta) played a big role in TC3 going 3-0 this past week. In Wednesday's win over nationally-ranked Mohawk Valley, he scored 12 points. At the Twins Classic, he led TC3 in scoring with 31 points over the two games. Garcia added eight rebounds and six assists as the Panthers won the Twins Classic for the second straight year while also improving to 4-0 this season.

Diana Leifsson, Women's Basketball
November 5
Diana (Half Hollow Hills High School East/Melville) helped the Panthers to a 2-1 record after the first week of the season. In the opener against D-II Jamestown-Cattaraugus, she scored eight points while handing out a team-best six assists. At the Bronco Classic, she helped TC3 to a win over Sullivan County by pouring in 18 points and dishing out four assists. For the week she led the team with 33 points and 11 assists.

Kim Natoli, Women's Soccer
October 22
Kim (Cortland H.S./Cortland) played a leading role in TC3's biggest win of the year. In the regular-season finale against nationally-ranked Herkimer, Natoli started the first scoring play of the game, finding her teammate for a score with just 18 seconds left in the first half. She added a goal of her own in the second half, scoring off a direct kick to help the Panthers to a 3-1 win. The victory secured the #2 seed in the NJCAA Region III tournament for the Panthers.

Fernando Casanova, Men's Soccer
October 15
Fernando (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) helped the Panthers to a strong week, both by controlling play in the midfield and by putting the ball in the goal. He scored the first goal in TC3's 3-0 win at Fulton-Montgomery Thursday, a win that guaranteed TC3 a winning season. In Sunday's win at Jefferson, Casanova added an assist as the Panthers clinched at least a tie for the MSAC title.

Danielle Hiza, Women's Soccer
October 8
Danielle (Johnson City HS/Johnson City) continued her torrid scoring for the Panthers. After scoring two goals against Corning, Hiza recorded a hat trick in the first half of the TC3 win over Genesee. The three goals gave her 20 for the season, setting a new TC3 single-season record.

Lindsey McCutcheon, Volleyball
October 1
Lindsey (Dryden HS/Dryden) enjoyed a big week for the Panthers. In Wednesday's match against SUNY Delhi, she led the team with ten kills and eight digs. She followed that up with nine kills and nine digs in the win at Davis College. For the year, she is second on the team in kills and digs.

Briana Turi, Women's Soccer
September 24
Briana (Cooperstown HS/Cooperstown) continued her outstanding play in the defensive end last week, helping the Panthers to another shutout. Playing against one of the top scoring teams in the region, the Turi-led defense limited Finger Lakes to just four shots while posting a 2-0 win. TC3 now has four shutouts, including three of the last four games.

Kali Hemly, Volleyball
September 17
Kali (Ithaca HS/Ithaca) provided the firepower for an exciting come-from-behind win Tuesday. Playing against Broome, Hemly ripped 22 kills to go with 24 digs, three aces, and three blocks as TC3 rallied for the five-game win. For the year, she leads the Panthers in kills, averaging three per game.

Danielle Hiza, Women's Soccer
September 10
Danielle (Johnson City HS/Johnson City) had a huge week for the Panthers. She started the week playing a key role in TC3's comeback against nationally-ranked Mohawk Valley. With TC3 down 2-0, Hiza scored to put the Panthers on the board, and then had an assist on the game-tying goal. In Saturday's win over Cayuga, Hiza scored her first collegiate hat-trick, finishing with three goals and an assist. For the year, she has scored a goal in every game, a streak of five games.

Chris Driscoll, Men's Soccer
September 4
Chris (Southern Cayuga HS/Aurora) helped the Panthers to a big weekend at the Northeast Cup. In
Saturday's double-overtime win over Holyoke Community College, Driscoll scored the only goal of the game. Sunday saw him play a major role in TC3's comeback win over Bunker Hill Community College. Driscoll scored the game-tying goal in the second half and then earned an assist of the game-winner in overtime.
