Panthers Fall at Home

Friday, March 27, 2015

TC3 lacrosse

For the first time this season, the Tompkins Cortland Community College lacrosse team walked off its own field with a loss Friday. After winning all three of its previous home games, including one game played at SUNY Cortland, the Panthers fell to Dean College (Mass.) by a final score of 9-5. The non-region game evens TC3’s record at 3-3 on the year Dean improves to 2-3.

After a scoreless first five minutes of the game, Dean led the rest of the way. The Bulldogs scored the first two goals before Ian Henrichsen (New Roots H.S./Freeville) got the Panthers on the board with a goal with 9.8 seconds left in the first quarter. Dean scored the lone goal of the second quarter to take a 3-1 lead into the half.

A goal in the first minute of the third quarter made it 4-1, but TC3 rallied with goals by Nick Velazquez (Middletown H.S./Middletown) and Brian Litzenberger (Cortland H.S./Cortland) to make it a one-goal game at 4-3 with 11:11 left in the third. The Panthers were within one goal for less than a minute, as Dean netted a score with 10:43 left to make it 5-3 followed by two more scores before the quarter ended. In the fourth, the teams traded scores twice, making the final 9-5.

Litzenberger ended the game with two goals and two assists while Velazquez had two goals and an assist. Wes Swanson (Dryden H.S./Dryden) added an assist for the Panthers.

Eh Tha Dah (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) had 11 saves in goal for TC3.

Next up for TC3 is a Mid-State Athletic Conference game with Finger Lakes Community College Sunday. The game, originally scheduled to be played at Finger Lakes, will be played on the TC3 Turf at 1 p.m.

Season Ends with Big Win at Herkimer

Saturday, April 19, 2014
