Daly Leads Panthers to First Win

Wednesday, September 02, 2015

TC3 soccer

Led by a hat-trick by freshman Cali Daly (Coventry H.S./Coventry, Conn.), the Tompkins Cortland Community College women’s soccer team posted its first win of the season, a 3-2 decision at Jefferson Community College. The game marked the first Mid-State Athletic Conference game of the year and evened the Panthers overall record at 1-1-1 overall. It was the season opener for Jefferson.

Most of the scoring occurred in the first half, starting with an own-goal that gave Jefferson a 1-0 lead in the 12 minute of play. Daly evened the score in the 22 minute, scoring off an assist from Emma DeLisio (Onteora H.S./Woodstock). After a Jefferson tally in the 33rd minute, Daly beat the clock to tie the game in the final minute of the half. The Panthers took the lead for first time as Daly scored the game winner in the 77th minute. Molly Graves (Newark Valley H.S./Newark Valley) earned the win in goal, recording six saves.

The Panthers hope to build on the success of the first win with a pair of road games this weekend. After taking on Clinton Community College Saturday, Sunday’s opponent will be North Country Community College.
