In addition to Accuplacer Reading and Math, students take WritePlacer. Unlike Accuplacer, which is entirely multiple-choice, WritePlacer has the student write an essay, which is computer-scored. The combination of the Reading and WritePlacer score determines the English placement; in some cases students may also take the Accuplacer Sentence Skills test. In certain circumstances ASSET is also used, so information about the use of these scores for placement is also included. The WritePlacer exam was revised by College Board and is now scored on an 8-point rubric. The new scoring became effective 06/30/09. Therefore, it is important to note the test date when determining placement.
**NOTE** - The 03/08/10 placement memo reflects changes that were made to math placement.
